Plymouth is located west of Minneapolis and is connected to highways 494, 394 and 55. Plymouth’s proximity to Minneapolis and its convenience to shopping and recreation make it a highly desired city for companies and residents alike.
Most cities would be overjoyed to be ranked No. 11 in Money Magazine’s list of best places to live for a city its size (50,000 to 300,000). But after coming in at No. 1 in the previous rankings in 2008, Plymouth is used to the accolades.

More about Plymouth, MN
One area where the city especially excels is in education. Based on 2010 data, Plymouth was one of the top cities in the state in both math scores (40 percent higher than the state average) and reading scores (37.7 percent higher).
Recreational opportunities are also not hard to find in a city that offers more than 120 miles of trails and 1,200 acres of park land. And Lake Minnetonka — with its nearly 15,000 acres of water recreation potential — is just minutes away.
Plymouth’s location is also a plus, allowing easy access to the rest of the Twin Cities area. One major artery (I-494) runs through it, another major highway (Highway 169) forms its eastern border and another interstate that provides convenient access to downtown Minneapolis (I-394) is just south in neighboring Minnetonka.
