About Lakeville

Located on the southern edge of the Twin Cities along I-35, the main artery feeding into the metro area from the south, Lakeville is sometimes referred to as the gateway to the Twin Cities. But all you do is cruise through on the interstate on your way to points north, you’re missing out on one of the jewels of the Twin Cities.

Lakeville is one of the fastest-growing cities in the state, with a population that has swelled more than 39 percent since 2000. As Lakeville has grown, so have the number of employment opportunities. Job growth was at 20.26 percent from 2000 to 2009.

And the education system has kept pace with that growth. A second high school recently opened its doors, and test scores indicate a continued commitment to top-notch education at both high schools, three middle schools and eight public elementary schools. Based on data from 2010, Lakeville test scores were 34.7 percent higher than the state average in reading and 37.9 percent higher than the state average in math.

The city has more than 100 miles of walking and biking trails within its borders, as well as nearly 2,000 acres of parks, recreational areas and preserves. Lakeville is also just minutes away from the Buck Hill ski area.

Lakeville, MN Real Estate

The MN real estate market is ever changing and fluid and that is no different in this city. While new construction has slowed in recent years, there are still a lot of existing homes in the city. That still leaves lots of homes for sale as well as condos and townhomes to choose from, so there isn’t a shortage of real estate options in the city.  Minnesota is a wonderful place to live, work and play – Minnesota always ranks high on surveys of income, education, health and happiness. Minnesota is also lucky to have an unemployment rate substantially below the national average – owing in large part to a very broad employment base. This high employment also helps keep prices of homes for sale more stable than the east coast or west coast.
