Minneapolis and its sister city, St. Paul, and suburbs, comprise more than half of Minnesota’s 4+ million people.  Its central location and variety of amenities make it the heart of the metro area.  Minneapolis has been transforming over the last decade, and especially in the last five years.  The Warehouse District has been transformed from run-down buildings to highly coveted loft and condominium space.  In fact, Minneapolis is seeing an explosion of warehouse rehab, apartment to condo conversion, and new condominium building.  Aaron Dickinson has information on all these projects.

While the skyway allows people to stay inside during the winter months, the lakes region in the southwest corner of the city draws them outdoors year round. The lakes, beaches and surrounding trails are especially popular destinations in the summer months.

If you’re more interested in spectator sports, Minneapolis has you covered as well. It is home to the Twins (Target Field), the Vikings (Metrodome) and Timberwolves and Lynx (Target Center).

Minneapolis is also the site of the main University of Minnesota campus, which boasts one of the nation’s elite healthcare facilities, the U of M Medical Center.

The city also has a lot to offer when it comes to the arts. It is home to the Minneapolis Institute of the Arts, the Walker Art Center, the Guthrie Theater, the Historic Orpheum Theater and the Historic State Theater, among others.

The Minneapolis public school system includes 40 elementary schools, seven middle schools and seven high schools.

There are many different housing options available in the city.  Minneapolis has a large variety of condos for sale in downtown as well as dispersed throughout other parts of the city.  There are not a lot of townhomes in comparison to houses or condominiums, but there are some to be found.  The majority of housing, excluding downtown, are homes built from the late 1800’s to 1950’s.
