Chanhassen is located southwest of Minneapolis and is connected to highways 5, 7, 101, 41 and 212.  Chanhassen’s population has exploded in recent years due to the large number of homes that have been built in the area.  While it is a third-ring suburb, it is still a reasonable commute to Minneapolis and the employment centers on the 494 loop.  Chanhassen’s housing stock includes mainly townhomes and single family homes from 1970′s to today, with over half of the homes sold in 2004 being built since 1990.  With the new Highway 212 extending into the southern side of the city, traffic has substantially improved and will encourage strong development along part of the city that has been slower to develop.
